Southside on Lamar, where toxic gas fumes are on the house!

It’s finally gone … wait, Deep Ellum is the other way …

Run, get to the chopper!

Thanks to all who played; we’ll have more stuff to give away in coming days, swear. And we do appreciate that many of you made your entries topical; several suggested the smoke had something to do with former Mayor Laura Miller (“diabolical,” wrote someone) and/or the Trinity Toll Road. But the UP brain trust, which read every entry without knowing who sent ’em in, has selected a winner. And it comes from longtime local powerhouse Jeff West, who brings us this:

After 70 years of neglect, North Dallas developers finally agree South Dallas real estate is really starting to catch fire.

Will you step up to support Dallas Observer this year?

We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to you. If the Dallas Observer matters to you, please take action and contribute today, so when news happens, our reporters can be there.

$30,000

Jeff, we will contact you about how to get your ducats. And, of course, mazel tov. –Robert Wilonsky
