And so it goes: Just got word that Erykah Badu and her “Honey” co-director Mr. Roboto (I think some domo arigatos are in order, yes?) took home the Best Direction award at this year’s MTV VMA “Professional Catergories” awards show for their collaboration on the “Honey” video, beating out Panic at the Disco’s “Nine in the Afternoon,” Linkin Park’s “Shadow of the Day,” Rihanna’s “Take a Bow” and the Pussycat Dolls’ “When I Grow Up” for the prize. At the BET Awards in June, the pair won the Best Director award, as well.
Didn’t know such a subsection award show existed until now, but hey, congrats, I guess! —Pete Freedman
