Dallas police today released a bulletin regarding two very similar robberies of Pokemon Go players near White Rock Lake.
The first incident occurred on July 22, 2016 at about 1:05 a.m, when officers responded to a robbery call in the 600 block of E. Lawther. “The victim was robbed at gunpoint by three black male suspects while playing Pokemon Go with a group of friends,” the police said. “The suspects took the victim’s cell phone.”
On August 2, 2016, officers received another late-night robbery call to the 4700 block of W. Lawther. Again, three black male suspects robbed the victim of a phone while playing Pokemon Go with friends. The location of this robbery is about 3 miles from the first, or a few minutes drive on the other side of White Rock Lake.
“We want to remind everyone to stay safe while playing Pokemon Go by traveling in groups, staying in well-lit areas, and being mindful of your surroundings,” the police statement says.
