Architect Bob Meckfessel .. or former Dallas Observer editor Peter Elkind?
I rarely go to shul, and when I do, it’s usually for something unusual — like, oh, a mayoral-candidates forum or a Trinity toll-road referendum debate. And, see, Temple Emanu-El does it right: Sure, you have to get up a little early on a Sunday morning for the temple’s regular Community Breakfasts, but the mensches on the Emanu-El Brotherhood do it right — fresh Einstein Bros. bagels, lox and cream cheese and strong coffee, for starters.
And you’ll need it this weekend: On Sunday at 9:30 a.m. — with the buffet line opening at 9, all completely gratis but no shoving, please — Emanu-El will host in the Tobian Auditorium a Trinity River Project Panel, featuring Mayor Tom Leppert and architect and Trinity Commons Foundation board member Bob Meckfessel on the pro-toll road side and, once more, council person Angela Hunt and former council member Sandy Greyson representing the anti faction. It’ll be just like Yom Kippur, without the fasting. –Robert Wilonsky
