Now, she’s from Houston, but 18-year-old Kady Malloy was among the 13,000 wannabes who sweated to the oldies at Texas Stadium and the W last summer. And last night, during American Idol‘s Dallas-auditions segment, Malloy proved herself a capable mimic and a fine singer all by her lonesome. “Of all the people we’ve seen so far this year, you’re the best so far,” Judge Simon said. “I’ve got a feeling about you.” The never-been-kissed virgin, alas, didn’t make it; but the guy who keeps his fingernails in a baggie, he did. –Robert Wilonsky
