Since November, a Dallas attorney with a familiar last name has been at odds with Facebook over its decision to allow Holocaust-denial groups to post to the service. The story’s generated some heat in recent days, culminating today with this CNN story in which Brian “Brother of Mark” Cuban, who maintains The Cuban Revolution, says that “there is no First Amendment right to free speech in the private
realm. This isn’t a freedom-of-speech issue. Facebook is
free to set the standard that they wish.” To which Facebook has responded thusly: “Just being offensive or objectionable doesn’t get it taken off
Facebook. We want it [the site] to be a place where people can discuss
all kinds of ideas, including controversial ones.”
