Coppell police arrested a suspect Monday afternoon following the Sunday evening shooting of former Coppell High School running back Charles West. West graduated this spring and signed a football letter of intent with BYU.

The alleged shooter was identified in a photo lineup by West, according to police. The suspect’s identity is being withheld until additional witnesses are interviewed and review photo lineups.

West was hit in the arm and taken from Coppell East Middle School where the shooting occurred to Parkland Hospital. He’s since been released and, if social media is any guide, seems to be doing OK.

D Magazine‘s Front Burner has obtained a video of the incident.

West was arrested in February for assault with a deadly weapon. A woman who said West contacted her on Backpage.com — where she advertised foot fetish and dominatrix services — told police that West sexually assaulted her and put a knife to her throat. West made the initial call to police after the pair’s transaction apparently went bad.
