Told you it was forthcoming: Criterion Collection’s blow-out edition of Wes Anderson’s Bottle Rocket, the best movie ever made in Dallas, damn right. Turns out, though, it’ll be available in November and not October, as was originally announced.
The company’s finally posted all the details concerning the add-ons found on the double-disc collection, and among them you will find a commentary from Anderson and Owen Wilson; a brand-new making-of doc featuring the likes of James Caan, all the Wilson boys, producer James L. Brooks, Kumar Pallana, Devo’s Mark Mothersbaugh and Bob Musgrave; the original 1992 black-and-white short; 11 deleted scenes, which, I’ve been told, add up to about half an hour; screen tests and “an appreciation by Martin Scorsese,” among myriad other bounties. And here are just a few more of the key ingredients: dynamite, pole vaulting, laughing gas, choppers — can you see how incredible this is going to be? — hang gliding, come on! –Robert Wilonsky
