$30,000

By now even non-Dish Network-ers are aware of the ongoing spat between FOX and Dish over carriage fees, which resulted in FOX’s yanking off the Dish its 19 regional sports nets on October 1, including Fox Sports Southwest. (Also gone: FX and the National Geographic Channel.) Or maybe it’s the other way around: FOX says Dish did the dirty work. Look — there’s even a website to prove it, so there. Come November 1, there’s also a pretty good chance Dallas DISH subscribers will lose KDFW-Channel 4. Aw, no Good Guys for you.

Anyway. Several Friends of Unfair Park direct our attention to the Dallas Stars’ website, where, last night, the still-Tom-Hicks-owned team suggested that, look, maybe fans might wanna go elsewhere for their Stars broadcasts, all of which are supposed to be in HD this season:

As you can imagine, DISH’s competitors are ready, willing and able to make great offers to DISH’s customers that don’t want to miss their Stars games (or Mavs, college football, etc). FOX Sports Southwest (and FX and Nat Geo) is offered by a number of other local distributors in our area (AT&T U-verse, Charter Cable, DirecTV, Time Warner Cable, Verizon FIOS). Every Stars game broadcast on FOX Sports Southwest and FOX Sports Southwest-Plus will be available on each of these carriers.

Defending Big D looks further into the FiOS thing. Because, apparently, FSN wasn’t FiOS-friendly last season.
