So: This weekend marks the release of the rock ‘n’ roll biopic on The Runaways–called The Runaways, natch–which tells the story of the noted ’70s punk rock jailbait act that offered up “Cherry Bomb” to the masses (what’s up, Dazed and Confused, soundtrack?) and introduced the word to frontwoman Cherie Currie and would-be ’80s superstars Joan Jett and Lita Ford.
And, if the above trailer is to believed, the flick doesn’t look all that bad, either, starring Twilight co-stars Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart, the latter of whom showed some indie-rock-crush promise back in In The Land of Women before she went all fangbanger with Robert Pattinson and stuff.
Anyway, the movie’s getting screened tonight at the Angelika Theater, and the folks behind it have been kind enough to offer DC9 readers some treats to go along with it–a pair of tickets to tonight’s screening and a prize pack (which includes a t-shirt, a poster, a copy of Cherie Currie’s Runaways-centric memoir Neon Angel, a copy of Joan Jett’s recent-released greatest hits album and a copy of the movie soundtrack). Not a bad deal at all.
Deal is, they have to be separate winners, that’s all. So how about this: Shoot me an email right now with the word “Jailbait!” in the subject line. First person to do so wins the screening passes for tonight. Second person to do so wins the prize pack. Deal? Cool. Good luck!
Update: Contest is over. Congrats to our winners!
