Tomorrow night, Hot Hot Heat, surely one of the bigger names in the early ’00s rock revival explosion not named The Strokes or Franz Ferdinand, comes through Dallas for a date at The Loft. The tour comes in support of the band’s new release, Future Breeds, which finds the band returning to its indie record label roots (now with Dangerbird Records) after a short dalliance with Sire Records and Warner Bros. for 2005’s Elevator and 2007’s Happiness Ltd. As such, the new record comes with a whole lot smack talk from Hot Hot Heat about no longer wanting “to be known as a radio band,” et al.

But is the band’s new direction really all that different? You can find out for yourself tomorrow night–and for free, no less, thanks to the folks at The Loft, who’ve been kind enough to pass along five pairs of tickets for us to hand out to DC9 readers. To win one, shoot me an email right now with the words “Heat Stroke” in the subject line and your full name in the body copy. First five folk to do so each win a pair. Good luck!

Update: Contest is over. Congrats to our winners!
