In my preview of Afghan Whigs’ Sunday show at Granada, I perhaps remembered them a little too starkly. And though they were sort of a stark band, they had some genuine moments where they cleaved open greatness on 1993’s Gentlemen and ’96’s Black Love, namely the latter album’s final track, “Faded.” Their talent for dark/stark songs has gotten an update with this summer’s Frank Ocean cover.
