Last year, Red Bull brought its first SoundClash event to town, with Erykah Badu squaring off against Shiny Toy Guns in Victory Plaza. It made for a pretty cool event, with the two acts playing on stages set up across from each other and playing covers, then the other artist’s songs, and anything else that the in-house DJ at the event may have asked of them.

It leads to some interesting moments and experiences that can’t be replicated with other events, that’s for sure–like, say, Badu playing a country song, as she did at last year’s event.

Tonight, Red Bull is bringing the SoundClash back to Dallas, this time at the Palladium Ballroom, where it will pit rapper Talib Kweli and Latin funk legends Ozomatli against one another in its competitive setting.

It should make for a great time, and seems sure to have some unexpected moments. And, thanks to our friends at Red Bull, we have two pairs of tickets to give away to two lucky DC9 readers. Hit the jump to see how to win.

Will you step up to support Dallas Observer this year?

We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to you. If the Dallas Observer matters to you, please take action and contribute today, so when news happens, our reporters can be there.

$30,000

Want the free passes? OK: Just be among the first two people to email Pete with “OzoKweli” in the subject line, and you’re in. Good luck!

Update: Contest is over. Congrats to our winners!
