My favorite doc in the about-to-wrap Dallas International Film Festival was Thunder Soul, about the Kashmere Stage Band straight outta Houston in the can-you-dig-it 1970s. Perhaps a sequel, then, about the David W. Carter High School stage band from ’72? Maybe, maybe not. But for the last few weeks, someone named Carter Cowboys has been posting to Vimeo cuts from The Herd’s slab o’ wax, augmented with vintage photos and period whatnots — a sort of min-doc for the uninitiated. Here’s today’s addition to the canon. And, no, it most definitely does not need more cowbell.
