This is the first trailer released for Dallas Buyers Club, the new drama based on the life of Ron Woodroof, who smuggled and sold unlicensed medications when he was diagnosed with AIDS in the mid-’80s. Naturally, it’s set in Dallas and stars our favorite paper doll, Matthew McConaughey, who lost 40 pounds for the role.

Dallas Buyers Club gets its premiere screening in early September at the Toronto International Film Festival. Focus Features has said that DBC‘s general release date will arrive a month earlier than planned, hitting screens on November 1 instead of December 6. The move was an effort to keep the AIDS drama from facing off against the new Coen Brothers’ Inside Llewyn Davis and Christian Bale’s latest, Out of the Furnace.
