UPDATE: I just confirmed with a spokesperson for Hofmann’s Hots that the restaurant will be open for hot dog consumption this Friday morning at 11 a.m. The restaurant will operate from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. daily.

Original Post

Hofmann Hots, the diner-themed hot dog restaurant in the Trinity Groves complex, will open its doors to the public within a few weeks. A number of press events and soft openings have been scheduled over over the next few days while they work out any remaining kinks.

Hofmann Hots is the latest of a string of restaurant projects to be “incubated” at the Trinity Groves project, including Babb Bros. BBQ and Blues, an Asian street food concept and more.

Will you step up to support Dallas Observer this year?

We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to you. If the Dallas Observer matters to you, please take action and contribute today, so when news happens, our reporters can be there.

$30,000

A menu preview teases fajita dogs with bell peppers and cheese, Himalayan dogs with curry aioli and chutney, bruschetta and other specialty dogs, but I’m most interested in the links themselves.

Hofmann’s Sausage brands their links as a snappy griller, in reference to the natural casings used when making the hot dogs. If you’ve ever had a good rendition you know they pop when you bite through the casing. I’ve heard the claim for snappy dogs at the Bowery, and most recently at Jerry’s Wood-Fired Dogs, but the tube steaks never deliver. We’ll see if Hoffman’s, which is based out of Syracuse, New York, makes good on that snappy promise.
