$10,000

Last month, while turning our big bills into singles, we noted that Houston-based Rick’s Cabaret was expanding its presence in the DFW with the purchase of the Platinum Club II on Northwest Highway near Stemmons Freeway. Today, Rick’s has sealed the deal by closing the $7.5-million purchase: $1.5 million “in cash” for club, another $6 million for “the accompanying real estate.”

And, as noted earlier, the joint will now be rebranded Club Onyx — “catering to African-American gentlemen.” Notes Eric Langan, president and CEO of Rick’s, in today’s media release: “The more we get to know the Dallas market the more enthusiastic we have become about the potential for an upscale Club Onyx facility. Dallas has the great mix of professional athletes, music artists and business executives that has made our Club Onyx brand successful in Houston and Charlotte.” I am currently pitching Rick’s on my idea for a strip club catering to Jewish-American gentlemen: The Kosher Deli. –Robert Wilonsky
