It’s been a big week for Il Cane Rosso. Not only did the mobile oven’s pizza pie make our very own list of Dallas’ 100 Best Dishes, owner Jay Jerrier was featured on the nation’s leading pizza blog.

Adam Kuban’s Slice, one of the first and most-admired online chronicles of a single food obsession, yesterday made Jerrier the subject of a lengthy Q-and-A.

While mobile pizza ovens are hot nationwide, Jerrier revealed to Slice that the 4,000-pound contraption’s an especially good fit here because “in Dallas…there aren’t a whole lot of hills to worry about.”

Asked which other local pizzas he enjoyed, Jerrier said he was a fan of Olivella’s, Maurizio’s in Coppell (where he typically orders pasta or a meatball sandwich) and Urban Crust in Plano. But, he added, “If I’m not eating pizza, I’m eating breakfast tacos at a place called Taco Joint.”
