A couple of weeks ago, a Friend of Unfair Park asked, “Why did they replace all the doors at the Inwood Theatre?” Didn’t really know why — till now. Because Landmark Theatres sends word that today, it’ll debut the Living Room™ Auditorium — and about time too, as the downstairs theater was a shadow of a shadow of the swank leather-bound screening rooms upstairs installed during the ’05 redo. Only, it means what, exactly? Notes the release, which points out that Landmark’s, um, Landmark in Los Angeles already has a Living Room™ auditorium:

Landmark completely re-invented the first-floor auditorium of the Inwood with a variety of unique seating options including couches, loveseats, chairs and ottomans, as well as the original LoveSac. A private bar also was added, allowing patrons to purchase cocktails and soft drinks without ever leaving the auditorium.

The thing debuts just in time: with this week’s opening at the Inwood of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Trust me — you’ll be very, very glad there’s a couch and a fully stocked bar nearby. –Robert Wilonsky
