At the beginning of the week, it looked as though Stanley Marcus’ 70-year-old Lakewood home was a goner, as Mark and Patty Lovvorn told the Texas Historical Commission they were razing the famous manse in favor of something more “energy efficient.” Today, the Lovvorns send word that they’ve changed their minds — because they’ve heard the cries of the preservationists, and because “our greatest desire is to maintain a consistent testimony for Christ in all of the issues of life and, in this circumstance, we feel that a strong spirit of cooperation best accomplishes this.” Amen. –Robert Wilonsky
