In the comments below, a Friend of Unfair Park notes that shortly before Mayor Tom Leppert said his farewells to the Dallas City Council, he hopped on his Twitter account to take issue with President Obama’s announcement that he believes Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act is unconstitutional. That’s the section, of course, that defines marriage “for federal purposes as only between a man and a woman.”

Mayor Tom, who more than likely will announce he’s running for U.S. Senate in coming days, is no fan of the president’s decision, writing: “Another mistake from Obama on DOMA. We need leaders in Washington to stand for the principle of marriage between one man and one woman.” Whew — for a second there, I thought he was referring to the Dallas Observer Music Awards.
