Maybe you remember Mayta from their standout performance at this year’s Dallas Observer Music Awards showcase. Or, perhaps you caught vocalist Renato Rimach on the cover of our issue celebrating that most recent awards season.

Well, if those things weren’t enough to grab your attention, fresh off the heels of winning their DOMA award for Best Latin Act they are releasing a brand new video for their single, “Yacila” from their EP Antropófago.

“Yacila” a beach located in Northern Peru, is a sentimental place for Mayta, where band members spent many of their summers. If the song title refers to a previous happy place in a separate hemisphere, the video shows these musicians in a new happy place … Dallas.

We’re thankful for you. Are you thankful for us?

We feel thankful for our staff and for the privilege of fulfilling our mission to be an unparalleled source of information and insight in Dallas. We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to this community.
Help us continue giving back to Dallas.

$30,000

Directed by Osman “Mr. Os” Tello, we find Mayta in the coziest of living rooms, playing music and making breakfast. Appealing enough all on its own this setting only further enforces the sense of family that Mayta and its members often tout.

Check it out for the loose grooves and that signature latin-psych intersection that they do so well, and maybe let your heart warm just a little on a cold day. That’s what happy places are all about.

And check out the band’s Facebook page for upcoming dates and news on Mayta.
