$10,000

Since 2005, NX35 events have showcased Denton bands at the massive South by Southwest music festival in Austin. Not this year, though.

Chris Flemmons‘ brainchild is staying squarely in the 940 this March, with four days of music planned for 12 venues in the four-block area surrounding the Courthouse Square. The final day of the March 12-15 “conferette” (a humble way of saying “conference,” apparently) falls the Sunday before SXSW’s music conference begins on Wednesday, March 18. The Dallas Observer is the official media partner.

We’ll be passing along more announcements from NX35 HQ about performances in coming weeks as details continue to get finalized, so keep checking back.

Oh, and Denton-based bands and performers can still get on board, as submissions will be accepted at Sonicbids.com through January 22. —Jesse Hughey
Update: Chris Flemmons emailed to let us know that this year’s NX35 is far more inclusive than the SXSW versions, and isn’t limiting submissions to Denton acts.
