If this poster were an NBA Draft prospect, Jay Bilas and Hubie Brown would go on and on about its impressive length. Probably its upside, too.
But we here at DC9 just think it’s purdy.
Designed by Calhoun’s Jordan Roberts and printed up for selling purposes at tomorrow night’s show by Telegraph Canyon’s Andrew Skates and Austin Green (who together run Green Skates Screen Printing) the poster follows a pretty simple concept — the moon being replaced by a vinyl record — but it does so in such a crisp, tasteful manner that it stands out as eye-catching.
Really, this poster can be divided into three parts: There’s the top bit, with the hand-drawn lettering and all the pertinent information included; there’s the bottom bit, with the cleverly layered clouds; and there’s the middle part, with the night sky, the vinyl moon, and the back-lit clouds. Classy stuff, and right up our alley, too. We’ve been suckers for objects back-lit by the sun and moon since we first saw the original Karate Kid movie.
This, actually, is one of two different designs created for this show, the other of which is a daytime offering of the same scene. We prefer this one, though, because we like the nightlife and we like to boogie. See both versions side by side below.
