$10,000

It was bound to happen eventually: Rebecca Aguilar, suspended (and eventually fired) by KDFW-Channel 4 in October 2007 following her parking-lot interview with James Walton, has finally sued the station on the ground that the Fox station terminated “her employment based upon her race.” Her attorney, Steve Kardell, tells the Courthouse News Service that “Fox 4 wanted my client to advocate change in the community through her
reports, but to keep silent in improving working conditions in the
newsroom.”

Ed Bark has spoken to Aguilar, who says today that she filed the suit yesterday because “I just
don’t want this to happen again to another reporter,
especially a Latino. That’s what counts. That’s why
I’m doing this.”
Stations officials could not be reached for comment.
