No doubt you got a nasty wake-up call in the wee small hours of the morning from the storms that rumbled through; chances are there’ll be some kind of a repeat this evening. But Brother Bill Holston wanted to make sure we noted that the great Justin Terveen was out and about before the Big Stuff rolled in and directed our attention to the photo you see above, part of a series taken before the midnight hour last night.
Justin’s become something of a stormchaser these days; he’s taken his camera all over the Midwest in recent months, as evidenced by his Flickr photostream. I asked Justin when and from where he snatched this sure-to-become-iconic photo: “I knew they were coming in from the west, and I figured he Hyatt would be a good view since it’s 24 stories up,” he says of the 11:30ish shot. “I just watched it come in.” And this is the result: a photo titled “Calatrava Lightning,” which also happens to be Schutze’s nickname.
