$10,000

Less than a week after his band played the Doublewide, and just a few days after he was among the loyal fans crowded into Elm Street Tattoo, enjoying the Slowride reunion performance, guitarist Ian MacDougall of the Denton-bred Riverboat Gamblers was back in Austin, riding his bike home from work when he was struck by a car.

And it wasn’t pretty, as you can see from the picture to the right: MacDougall suffered multiple lacerations, a broken wrist, a broken hip, hemorrhaging under his skull, and multiple torn ligaments.

The good news, though? Although he faces a long recovery, he should be OK. But the hospital bills are stacking up, no surprise, and to help ease those matters, his fellow Gamblers are asking for your help via a new Web site and PayPal account the band has set up for him.

Per the site: “Anything you can afford to give will be greatly appreciated by Ian and his family.”
