Sean Kirkpatrick, keyboard player for The Paper Chase, frontman for his own eponymous side project and DOMA XX Best Instrumentalist nominee, has two free downloads up for grabs on his Myspace page. There’s also a gloomy new song from Kirkpatrick up on the page (but just for streaming) called “Losing Touch With One of My Senses.”
As for the downloads: One, simply entitled “Wed June 25,” is part of an ambient project Kirkpatrick’s been working on. The other, meanwhile, is a cover of Merle Haggard’s “The Bottle let Me Down,” and it’s a haunting, beautiful update on the country classic–definitely worth a listen and a download.
Plus, it’s surprisingly timely: On Thursday, Haggard will perform alongside Willie Nelson and Ray Price to help cut the ribbon on Willie’s Place, Nelson’s biodiesel fuel stop (and, naturally, concert destination) at Carl’s Corner. —Pete Freedman
