Original post: We were planning to try to localize the Supreme Court’s decision this morning on the Affordable Care Act, do some sort of informed, level-headed analysis like the DMN’s Michael Lindenberger prepared last night. But that would require a lot of work. So instead, we’re going to sit back, drink an early-morning cocktail, plow through the decision, and watch Twitter explode. We’ll post a copy of the opinion when it’s available, but SCOTUSBlog is reporting that the individual mandate was upheld as a tax with a vote from Chief Justice John Roberts and that the Medicaid provision has been limited but not invalidated. Their conclusion:

The bottom line: the entire ACA is upheld, with the exception that the federal government’s power to terminate states’ Medicaid funds is narrowly read.
