Big shake up news in the world of Dallas coffee: not only is Austin-based Houndstooth Coffee coming to Dallas in 2014, it’s going to be replacing Pearl Cup on Henderson Avenue.

Pearl Cup has been in its Henderson location for five years, and its lease is up at the end of December. Since then it’s opened two more locations, in Downtown and in Richardson. According to Teresa Grubbins at CultureMap, Pearl Cup owners Carlene Saelg and Rita Davis have still more plans for the coffee shop’s expansion, though at the moment they’re mum on the details.

Houndstooth opened its first shop in Austin in 2010 and a second in April of this year. The chain says it places a premium on quality coffee from sustainable sources and has also started roasting its own beans for the shops. It’s scheduled to open sometime in the spring.
