This is not your everyday Billboard chart. Each week, we’ll tell you which bands are selling in the fine record shops in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, where we consumers of music have impeccable taste.
CD Source owner, Lance Price, saw a combination of new releases and classic albums creep toward the top. “Dawes, Yeah Yeah Yeah’s, Ghostface Killah, Flaming Lips and Phoenix are all releases that came out within the last few weeks,” says Price. “But it’s always fun to see an old-school album sneak into the top 20. This time the very influential Superfly soundtrack did that and it was our highest ranked non-RSD release. It’s hard to beat Curtis Mayfield’s voice and the rhythms of the title song, especially for Saturday-night listening.”
Mark Church, sales associate at Good Records, says artists are still benefiting from in-store performances at Good Records, whether they are past performances or future. “Ishi takes the No. 1 spot with their new CD release Digital Wounds,” Church says. “They played to a full house on the Astroturf here at Good Records and pleased the crowd with their show.”
“Tom Keifer is seeing early benefits from his upcoming performance on Wednesday at 6pm here at Good Records,” Church says. “Tom is the frontman from the band Cinderella and is celebrating the release of his solo album, The Way Life Goes, with a tour and will be making a stop on our Astroturf to do an acoustic set, then a signing for his fans.”
