Texas Comptroller Susan Combs was at the University of Texas at Dallas today, where she unveiled the state’s Financial Allocation Study for Texas website, which measures how well the state’s school district’s spend their dough. Dallas ISD only got two stars out of a possible five on the overall chart, but the best part of the site is the custom report function that allows you to break down each district’s stats, from student achievement to salary. Like, for instance: The average teacher’s salary in the DISD is $53,045, where the average central administrator makes $78,871. You can see spending by program and “by object” and so forth; dig into dropout rates and demographics (fun fact: more than half of DISD’s students are pre-K to fifth grade); and check out TAKS results. Fun. And: Educational!
