Speaking of Dallas North Tollway closures, here’s an alternative worth considering: I didn’t know till I read this story today that Google provides an online transit guide for Dallas Area Rapid Transit, among a dozen other cities’ mass-transit systems. But, sure enough, here it is — complete with departure and travel times. And God knows it finishes a search a hell of a lot quicker than DART’s travel planner, which, good God, is still processing a search three … no, four … wait, five … minutes after Google called up a requested route from Unfair Park HQ up to the downtown Plano station. That took a whole 1.2 seconds, if that. –Robert Wilonsky
