As I said below, I picked, like, the worst possible time to drive north on the tollway to the folks’ Walnut Hill house this evening — or the best, since a bottle of decent wine had already been cracked open for the Rosh. (As I told the missus upon my arrival, she almost got the perfect start to 5771 — single!) While I was on the road, the rest of the Observer staff was getting quite the show out of HQ’s windows, which face west from Maple and Oak Lawn toward Stemmons. A big boy’s on the other side, and remember, it ain’t over yet: Tornado watch is in effect till 1 a.m., and a line of storms is forming to the west. Just not during Top Chef, K?
