This news comes as something of a surprise: With almost no fanfare, the New York City-based Kemado Records has announced that it will release next week a new five-song, 12-inch release from Dallas “stonegaze” trio True Widow.
Called I.N.O., the album, which comes just seven months after the release of the band’s epic As High as the Highest Heavens and from the Center to the Circumference of the Earth LP, is being released in tandem with the band’s upcoming tour of Europe, which begins next week.
The songs are a combination of As High as the Highest Heavens… recording sessions holdovers and some old never-before-released home-recorded tracks.
“It’s new to everyone else,” bass player Nikki Cage tells DC9 of the crop of five new songs available on the new EP. “We recorded more songs than would fit cohesively on Highest Heavens. It is those songs, along with ‘I.N.O.,’ which is the first song we ever recorded as a band.”

Says Kemado of the track in the new disc’s press materials: The song has “more abstract directions than any other True Widow offering thus far, experimenting with percussion-free drone elements, surprise surges in tempo and intensity, and at the ten-minute mark, a drop-in to silence, fading down into the depths and return changed and surreal.”
