So, here’s what happened: over on Reddit, someone posted “A friend of mine got complimented rather sneakily at Twisted Root Burger” with the above photo attached. After frontpaging shockingly quickly, comments started pouring in. Commenter princessofgemworld responds “I’m a server at a bar, and to keep track of strangers I tag their bills with little nicknames.”
The post has now done that Internet thing where it goes viral (it’s on HuffPo, Gawker, and Consumerist). It’s not been verified, and Consumerist mention that it may have been shopped. Aside from the vexing idea of ordering a veggie bowl at Twisted Root (it hasn’t been verified what location the receipt’s from) and the sure-to-enrage-PETA “Meat is Murder Tasty Murder!” denotation on the bottom, what do we think of these practices?
Obviously, Twisted Root, which has been featured on The Frosted Tipped One’s Food Network show, is known for their snark. But, now that it’s a national question (and if it’s real), what do we think of this?
