Urban Pantry, the upscale convenience shop that opened in North Dallas earlier this year, is now peddling its organic milk and crunchy energy bars at all hours of the day.
The store on Alpha Road switched to a 24-hour schedule last week.
Cashier Joe Denton reports the store’s drawing a fair amount of traffic from nearby apartment buildings, but few patrons are clamoring for tofu and unbleached sugar after midnight.
“It’s mostly cigarettes,” he says. “And a lot of people come in drunk and want sandwiches.”

Urban Pantry has also extended its delivery hours to match the new never-closed schedule.
“We’ve had a couple of night deliveries, which aren’t the most fun, but I guess it’s convenient,” he says.
