The area near the N. Central Expressway-Meadow Road intersection is about to undergo a transformation, for better or worse: Not only is the Circuit City shutting down on New Year’s Eve, but the former Holiday Inn, the closing of which we lamented exactly one year ago, is getting adiosed this weekend. The implosion’s scheduled for Sunday at 8 a.m., the folks at Dallas Demolition tell Unfair Park this morning, so plan accordingly.

Irony alert: Folks who’d like to observe the implosion of the hotel — and poor ol’ Cassidy’s Sports Bar & Grille — need to be off the street by 7 a.m. And the company doing the blow-’em-up is instructing gawkers to perch themselves on top of the parking garage just south of the demolition site — “you know, the Circuit City parking garage,” as the woman at Dallas Demolition put it. After the jump, Dallas Demolition’s highlight reel. –Robert Wilonsky
