We’re only days away from Menkena‘s highly anticipated debut album, With You I’ll Travel, which will earn its release on Tuesday, January 18.

Lead Singer Jimmy Menkena, whose name the band bears, built quite a buzz for himself in 2010, playing impeccable, loud shoegaze all over town. His band’s sound hearkens back to the early ’90s, when British bands like Slowdive and My Bloody Valentine were making extremely melodic, ethereal rock. And his new album promises to follow suit — at least if the lead single “Rocketships” is any indication.

After the jump, we’ve posted the music video for “Rocketships,” which might have some familiar footage for DC9 readers and Menkena fans. Early last year, Menkena started to incorporate stock footage of space ships and other outer space shots to its live show, and shared it with us. Now those clips adorn images of band performance in this new video.
