Just a few weeks ago, Dallas native Brandon Curtis and his band The Secret Machines were playing at our Dallas Observer Music Awards Showcase outdoor stage. The trio wore black as their psychedelic drones pretty much obliterated the audience. The heat from the afternoon sun took care of the rest.

In the above video, we see Curtis in his new role, wearing a similar black get-up while playing keyboards for New York band Interpol on its single “Barricade” from their forthcoming self-titled record.

He does a great job, too–until the very end when David Letterman came over the greet the band. Dave razzes Ben Brandon for not noticing him walk past him. Then Curtis goes to shake hands with the late night host and gets denied.

Ouch.
