The Dallas Observer is always looking for talented freelance writers, photographers, videographers and other content creators to contribute to our newspaper, web site and four blogs, Unfair Park (news), DC-9 at Night (music and nightlife), City of Ate (food and restaurants), and Mixmaster (arts and culture).

Prospective contributors should send some time on our site before reaching out. Find out what you like and what you don’t, what we need and what we don’t. Then send me an email introducing yourself, and include some samples (published or not) and a specific story idea — not a recurring column or a general area you want to write in, but a one specific story you want to tell.

You should hear back from us within a few days. If you don’t, bug us. It could be that we’re busy, or just didn’t have the chutzpah to tell you you’re not very good. We’ll try to suck it up the second time around.

Thanks. If you have any questions, shout.

Will you step up to support Dallas Observer this year?

We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to you. If the Dallas Observer matters to you, please take action and contribute today, so when news happens, our reporters can be there.

$30,000
