Leave your Bosch hell mouths and self-flagellation at the door as the MAC’s large gallery opens Masami Teraoka’s bold take on the issues of the Roman Catholic Church. His work addresses serious themes, such as clerical sexual abuse and the Vatican’s views on equality, seeking to start a dialogue on our collective cultural challenges. If you see Uptown as wasteland of bros, the MAC will change your mind. It’s been an oasis of culture in Uptown making contemporary art relevant and accessible since 1994. Don’t miss cloistered nuns looking on as the papacy gets frisky. Opening reception 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, with Masami Teraoka in attendance. An art talk with Masami takes place at 6:30 p.m. March 20. The exhibit is up through May 3. Entry to the MAC, 3120 McKinney Ave., is free.
