Both the Twilight Sad and Aereogramme hail from Glasgow, and maybe it’s something in the water over there, but these two bands share a very similar sprawling guitar aesthetic. Although Aereogramme’s latest, My Heart Has a Wish That You Would Not Go, emotes the sentiments of that long-winded title throughout, the group sidesteps emo-ness by dousing their tunes with strings. The Twilight Sad’s droney shoegaze is by turns melodic and bass-heavy. Distortion and feedback make the Twilight Sad happy; earplugs might be a necessity. The Internet has taken a shine to their debut Fourteen Autumns and Fifteen Winters, which might be all too telling. I’ll leave it at that. Canadian indie rock group A Northern Chorus rounds this triple bill and have hints of the above in them, but a bit more of a pop side.
