Owen Pallett, formerly known as Final Fantasy, released Heartland, his first album under his own name, early this year. And not without anticipation.
Before Heartland’s January release Pallett hadn’t dropped a full-length album since He Poos Clouds in 2006. But now, with a new extensive full-length in tow, Pallett is back on the music front with what arguably may be his best album yet. It’s a theatrical, skillfully orchestrated release, and at times Pallett’s voice finds itself almost indistinguishable from that of Beirut’s Zach Condon—and that’s definitely not a bad thing.
Last time Pallett was in town, he was the opening act for a sold-out Arcade Fire performance. This time, he’ll be headlining—and deservedly so.
