Mark S. Nelson isn’t a new name around Dallas. He’s been showing his work in our city’s stronghold galleries — Kettle, The Public Trust and Plush — since the early 2000s, giving those walls a hearty dose of cheerful color, layered above peculiarly deviant subject matter. Now, he’s got his own show and you can enjoy it, a decadent cocktail and the God-like views of Bar Belmont (901 Fort Worth Ave.) simultaneously. His paintings are quirkily surreal, and bend concepts of time and human relationships together, creating a mystical, visual rabbit hole. Fall down it through December 11. It’s free to view, but you’ll look less creepy if you buy a drink at the bar. Visit belmontdallas.com.
