My first piano recital included a mind-blowing rendition of “Mary Had a Little Lamb” (complete with vocal accompaniment) that was immediately shown up by some I’m-five-years-old-and-I-practice-12-hours-a-day-for-moments-like-this kid playing Rachmaninoff. So, I can sympathize with the struggle for piano greatness that the characters face in 2 Pianos 4 Hands, by Ted Dykstra and Richard Greenblatt. Shows run Wednesday through September 24 at the Dallas Theater Center, 3636 Turtle Creek Blvd., and feature the mad piano skills of Richard Carsey and Tom Frey. Your chance to relive the drama of piano lessons of yore takes place at 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays (with select Sunday evenings at 7:30 p.m.). Tickets are $15 to $60. Call 214-522-8499 or visit dallastheatercenter.org.
Tuesdays-Thursdays, 7:30 p.m.; Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Saturdays, Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Aug. 30. Continues through Sept. 24
