It takes a British playwright to tackle an American icon. Ron Hutchison’s farce, Moonlight and Magnolias, locks movie mogul David O. Selznick, rewrite man Ben Hecht and director Victor Fleming in one room to rework the script for Gone With the Wind. But Hecht hasn’t read the book, and Fleming, dragged off the set of Wizard of Oz, is a bit distracted. The three legends must re-enact the potboiler as they race against the clock to finish the script in this hilarious send-up of Hollywood. DTC Associate Director David Kennedy calls it a “comic valentine to the spirit of can-do Americana” that also comments on the Byzantine process of moviemaking today. Catch Moonlight and Magnolias Tuesday through February 18 (with preview shows Thursday through Sunday) at the Kalita Humphreys Theater, 3636 Turtle Creek Blvd. Tickets are $15 to $60.
