Were Penn & Teller the original Mythbusters? They were often touted as magicians, and their act did include more traditional illusion and sleight of hand, but there was always something a bit subversive about them. Their long-running Showtime series, Bullshit!, worked to debunk political, paranormal and religious beliefs. More recently, Teller broke his decades-long vow of onstage silence when he sued a Dutch artist for stealing a magic trick. The duo has recently revamped their magic show for Vegas, so hopefully Dallas will get a bit of that glitz when Penn & Teller appear at Verizon Theater (1001 Performance Place, Grand Prairie) for a night of rebellious alchemy, as well as lots of swears from Penn Jillette. Start time is 8 p.m. Friday. Tickets cost $20-$75. Call 972-854-5111 or visit verizontheatre.com.
