At this point in the young NBA season, the Chicago Bulls and your Dallas Mavericks are both promising teams with giant question marks hanging over their heads. The Mavericks have shown moments of brilliance thus far, with impressive defense and actual production in the middle thanks to Tyson Chandler, something the Mavs have never really had. But will the return of Rodrigue Beaubois from injury finally give the Mavs the freewheeling, slashing wing they’ve always needed, too? The fate of this year’s team depends on the answer. The same goes for the Bulls, who have two two young studs in Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah, yet won’t know what they’re truly capable of being until newly acquired power forward Carlos Boozer returns from a regrettable household injury. It’s doubtful either team will find any answers in their match-up Friday night–neither Boozer nor Beaubois are expected to return till next month–but the way both teams have been playing it should be fun to watch nevertheless. Tip off’s at 8:30 p.m. at the AAC. Tickets are $2 and way, way up. Visit ticketmaster.com.
