I’ll say it: Strolling through Concentrations 56: Stephen Lapthisophon — coffee, seasonal fruit, root vegetables, and “Selected Poems,” at the Dallas Museum of Art feels a little…sexy. Dangerous, even. Like you’ve entered the well-appointed bachelor pad of a worldly older man. There’s a rhythm in these works, some scuffed and rubbed down with coffee grounds. He’s allowed color to drip and smear. There’s a crate of records in the corner. It’s cohesive, tactile, invites exploration and yeah, you might blush a little — and that’s OK. Thursday, the professor (who was recently featured in our Dallas Observer People Issue) speaks with a longtime friend and fellow creative, actor John Judd, in the DMA’s Horchow Auditorium (1717 N. Harwod St.). The two have known each other for 40 years, so Judd’s seen Lapthisophon’s work evolve over time.
